Lately, more spam messages are coming in via Microsoft Outlook. These include messages that the computer is infected with malware or a virus, thus creating fear that the user is giving away personal data. The same goes for messages that a subscription has expired or that the user still has tens of thousands of euros in credit and must respond quickly. If you use Outlook, placing a filter is sufficient to move these messages unread to the trash, after which they will be automatically deleted within 1 month. The fact that there are people who also respond to other things, such as solar panels or air conditioners as soon as it is sunny outside, is always spam and certainly if you as a private individual have not requested it. The Dutch messages are often sent from abroad or with a reference to a foreign URL. You can also filter this, but since it is rare, you can also delete them unread. Finally: people also try to get you to pay for bitcoins because otherwise your database would be published or because you have performed sexual acts while sound and images have been recorded or published. This is also spam/scam, especially if you do not have a database online and do not have a connected webcam. The problem is that VPN has often been used. The bitcoin wallet is often still empty while other e-mail recipients have already reported that this is scamming. There is no point in forwarding these messages to the Consumer and Market Authority because the sender has made an effort to hide himself. Please note that carrying out illegal activities via VPN is punishable. If people are caught, they will not get away with community service.
I have placed filters on my web-based Outlook so I will publish less spam or scam on my website.
